Advent day 3 – Not Noise Pollution

OK, I admit it, I was a bit disappointed in today’s AC/DC Advent offering.  Same as yesterday, today’s chocolate just has the band’s logo on it.  And in comparison to the Lindt truffle, it’s kind of small and sort of tasteless.  Luckily, we still have more pie.

Another reminder that this is the season of AC/DC along with a delicious truffle that comes with a guilt inducing reminder that in order to do good things we need to do them in a big way, i.e whatever you're doing, it's probably not enough. Thanks Martin Luther, for the encouragement!

But speaking of good causes, here’s one that’s getting some of our holiday money this year. Thank goodness for Fat Cyclist without whom we’d never find so many good opportunities to help good causes and also possibly win stuff ourselves at the same time!

I also decided that today is rest day (following the plan that I’m sort of following and have only half created so far), partly because the pool is only open for an hour and a half early in the mornings on Mondays and partly because various forms of snow, sleet, ice, and rain were coming down with a vengeance all day today, but mostly because I am lazy.  According to the plan, tomorrow I should swim and then on Wednesday run, but I’m already considering changing that and switching the swim and the run.  Because no plan ever conforms to the whimsy of my daily life and remains unchanged for long.  Maybe that’s why it’s so hard for me to find or keep a coach.

So for today, everyone’s favorite holiday band explains why rock and roll is not noise pollution, a fittingly festive sentiment. Incidentally, this is from Back in Black, the only AC/DC album that I actually have on iTunes.  Back in the day, I’m certain that I had Dirty Deeds as well, but that was on …ahem…a cassette tape…and did not survive past around 1994 or so when I got my first CD player. (And certainly not because I played it to death in the tape deck of my Bitchin Camaro – see what I did there? Bonus 80’s music from another truly sublime punk band.)

And then in a tribute album (Back in Baroque) that I knew nothing about until today, we find that the Vitamin Strings have covered it. Almost makes me wish I still had my cello…

And continuing the theme of Lazy Monday, today instead of cooking, we got take out. But we have a serious advantage where that’s concerned.  Our next door neighbor just happens to run a Syrian restaurant and we we order from him, he just lends us the plates and stuff and makes it all up on a tray for us to take up to our place.  Hummus, Baba ganoush, lamb kebab, salads, and felafel – definitely better than McDonalds any day!

This is great for evenings when we swim or run. We can stop by, order dinner, go upstairs, change, take a quick shower, and then come downstairs and pick it up. He'll even bring it to us if we're late coming to pick it up.

More on training plans soon. And more holiday music!
